Agency workflow
This page ties the individual features together into the workflow most agencies follow, from first build to handing a finished site to a client. Each step links to the doc with the full details.
1. Start building for free
New websites can start on a development plan, which is free and has no time limit. As a partner, you can run an unlimited number of development sites at the same time, so you can build for several clients in parallel without paying until each site goes live.
2. Build from a blueprint
Instead of setting up every client site from scratch, create a single blueprint with the plugins, theme, and configuration you prefer. Copy it to a new site for each client, and you have a consistent starting point in seconds.
3. Iterate safely
While you build, use a free staging site to test changes before they reach the live site, and clone a website when you need another copy to work from.
4. Launch
When the site is ready, upgrade it from the development plan to a paid plan and point the client's domain at it. The site keeps everything you built - there's no migration step.
Our support can help you get the domain live, whether that means transferring the domain to Templ or setting up the right DNS records at the current registrar. Contact support and we'll make sure the launch goes smoothly.
5. Choose how each client is billed
You decide, per client, who Templ bills:
- Keep the site on your account (reseller) - you set your own price and bill the client yourself. See the partner program.
- Give the client their own account (affiliate) - create the account for them so access is set up automatically, using accounts for clients. Templ bills the client directly, and you earn commission through the affiliate program.
If a site started on your account and you later want the client to own it, you can transfer ownership to their account.
6. Operate at scale
As your portfolio grows, the website list gives you the state of every client site in one place. Use account sharing to give colleagues or clients access to specific accounts or sites, and contact support whenever something needs attention.
