Affiliate program
As a Templ affiliate, you recommend Templ to new customers and earn a signup bonus and recurring commission when those customers pay for their services. Sign up and manage your affiliate account in the affiliate area.
Recurring commission
You earn 10% recurring commission on all hosting payments from customers you refer, for as long as they stay with Templ. Commission is calculated on hosting payments; domain name purchases are excluded.
Commission is earned when:
- a customer completes a card payment
- an invoice is sent to the customer
There is no cap on how much you can earn, and becoming an affiliate is free.
Signup bonus
In addition to recurring commission, you receive a signup bonus of $100 (or 1,000 SEK) for each new customer you refer.
How the bonus is paid out depends on the customer's plan and billing period:
- Customers who pay yearly: the full bonus is paid at once
- Customers on the Micro plan who pay monthly: $10 (or 100 SEK) per month
- All other customers: $20 (or 200 SEK) per month
The first payout is made the month after the customer's first payment. Monthly instalments continue until the full bonus has been paid out, or until the customer cancels their service. If the customer cancels before the full bonus has been paid out, the remaining part is not paid.
What counts as a new customer
Commission and the signup bonus are only paid for new customers - a person or organization that didn't already have a Templ account, active or previous, at the time of the referral.
Whether a customer counts as new is determined by their own history with Templ, not by their relationship with you. If you take over the management or development of an existing Templ customer's account, you're not eligible for commission or the signup bonus for that account. Transferring, renaming, or re-registering an existing account doesn't make it a new customer account.
How referrals are tracked
All referrals go through your unique affiliate link, which you find in the affiliate area.
When someone clicks your affiliate link, the information is stored in a cookie that connects the customer to you as the affiliate. The cookie period is 60 days, which means the customer counts as your referral if they complete a purchase within that period.
If you're a Templ Partner and create Templ accounts on behalf of your customers, the affiliate connection is set up automatically for those accounts.
Where to see your earnings
Log in to your affiliate account. On the Referrals page you can see your referred customers and the commission they have generated.
Payouts
A payout is generated at most once a month, and only once your earned commission reaches the minimum payout amount of 10 USD (or the equivalent amount in another currency). When the threshold is reached, the payout includes all your unpaid referrals.
You can choose to receive your commission via:
- PayPal
- Invoice (Swedish affiliates only)
PayPal
Once a payout has been generated, we transfer the funds to your PayPal account. You enter and update your PayPal address in the affiliate area settings.
Invoice
With invoicing, you're notified by email when you have commission to be paid, along with instructions for how to specify the invoice. You then issue an invoice and send it to us, and we make the payment.
You decide whether to send an invoice right away or wait until your commission has accumulated to a larger amount.
Who can become an affiliate
You need to be a registered business to become a Templ affiliate, so we can credit your commission to it. What we need from you depends on where your business is registered:
- Sweden: an F-tax certificate (F-skattsedel).
- The EU, outside Sweden: your company name and VAT number.
- Outside the EU: a document showing that your company is VAT registered, or another official document from an authority in your country of establishment showing that your company is taxable.
Becoming an affiliate is free - there are no fees or hidden costs.
