Templ SMTP
Websites hosted by Templ are configured to send transactional emails with our SMTP server automatically, with no setup from you.
What Templ SMTP is for
Templ SMTP is intended for transactional email only - messages your site sends automatically in response to a user action. Typical examples:
- Password resets
- Order and payment confirmations
- Account notifications
- Contact and form submission notifications
Sending limits
To protect deliverability and prevent abuse, outgoing email through Templ SMTP is rate limited based on your website's plan.
| Plan | Per minute | Per hour | Per day |
|---|---|---|---|
| Micro | 5 | 50 | 250 |
| Small | 10 | 100 | 500 |
| Small Plus | 15 | 150 | 750 |
| Medium | 20 | 200 | 1,000 |
| Large | 25 | 250 | 1,250 |
| Custom | 30 | 300 | 1,500 |
/var/lib/msmtpq/queue/) and sent automatically as soon as the limit allows, so delivery is delayed rather than dropped. On the Custom plan, the limits can be raised manually by us when needed, in line with your site's size. If you're hitting the limit on a lower plan, upgrading the website raises it, or contact support to discuss your needs.
Where to find your SMTP settings
Your site's SMTP credentials are in the Templ Panel under Email → SMTP Settings. You can use them in any email client that supports a custom SMTP server.
