Additional domains
A website on Templ always has one primary domain. You can attach additional domains to the same site, for example to redirect several domains you own to your main domain, or to serve different languages from different domains or subdomains.
Attaching an additional domain does not change the site's primary domain and does not run a search-replace in the WordPress database.
Both root domains and subdomains (for example de.example.com) can be attached this way.
This is the right approach for multilingual plugins such as TranslatePress, WPML, or Polylang that serve different languages from different domains or subdomains on the same WordPress installation.
The "Website: -" state
A domain you've added but not yet attached to a website shows Website: - in the domain list, meaning it isn't connected to any website on Templ yet.
Configuration modes
- Linked - WordPress decides how the domain is used (multisite installations, and some multilingual sites where different domains serve different content).
- Redirect - a 301 redirect to the website's primary domain.
- Custom - an advanced configuration set up on request, for example a redirect to a specific path or URL.
How to set it up
Whether you need to change any DNS yourself depends on where the domain's DNS is managed.
- DNS managed by Templ - nothing to change; we point the domain at the site for you.
- DNS managed externally - you'll need to point the domain at the website, either by changing its A record or by updating its nameservers to Templ.
