Choose a plan
Every website on Templ runs on its own plan, and each site is sized independently. A plan sets how much CPU, RAM, and disk a website gets, while the included data transfer is pooled across your whole account. See core concepts for how plans fit into the bigger picture.
This page helps you pick a starting plan and shows how to change it later.
The short version
Pick the plan that matches how hard your site works, not just how big it feels. A quiet brochure site and a busy store with the same number of pages can need very different plans.
When you are unsure, start on the smaller option. Plans can be changed at any time, the change takes effect immediately, and you are only charged for what you use through proration. It is easier to move up once you see real traffic than to overpay from day one.
What drives the plan you need
A few things tend to decide how much work a WordPress site puts on the server:
- What kind of site it is. Blogs, personal sites, and company or brochure sites are usually light. E-commerce, booking, forum, and educational sites do more work per visit, so they benefit from starting on a larger plan.
- How much traffic it gets. As a rough guide: up to around 10,000 visitors a month fits the smaller plans, 20,000 to 100,000 points toward the middle plans, 100,000 to 200,000 toward Medium or Large, and over 200,000 toward Large or Custom. These are starting points, not limits.
- How many plugins it runs. Every active plugin adds overhead. Sites with 20 to 40 plugins, and especially more than 40, need more headroom than a lean install.
- Whether it connects to a business system. A store wired into an ERP or similar business system (for example Fortnox or Visma) does extra background work and is worth sizing up for.
Two things you do not have to size for precisely up front: bandwidth is pooled across your account rather than tied to one site, and disk space scales automatically when a site needs more. See disk storage for how that works.
Plan comparison
Plans offer essentially the same performance for a single request or page load. Larger plans mainly increase how many visitors your website can handle at the same time.
