Migrate a local site
On this page we list different methods for migrating a locally developed WordPress site to Templ.
Migrate with Duplicator
Our importer normally downloads the Duplicator archive from a URL, but a local site has no public URL. Note that Dropbox, Google Drive, and similar services won't work either, since they require clicking a Download now button or similar instead of offering a direct download.
The solution is to upload the archive to your Templ site over SFTP and import it as a local file:
- Follow the export phase of our Duplicator guide on your local site to create your archive.zip file.
- Create a website in the Templ Panel if you haven't already.
- Upload the archive.zip to the website over SFTP and import it using the local file import (
file://path) in the Import menu.
Alternatives to Duplicator
- Migrate manually by uploading the WordPress files and database.
- Let us handle it with our free migration service. All we need is access to a zip file with the WordPress files and database, then we can take care of the rest from there.
